ENG 206 - Writing the Novel I

This course is for students who want to write a novel. In workshop format, we will explore the elements of long fiction (character, plot, theme, setting, etc.), structure and development, writing styles and techniques, and issues such as giving and receiving criticism, revising, and overcoming writer’s block. Students will complete a working draft of the first 10,000 words of their novel. They will be encouraged, but not required, to continue working on their novels in ENG 207 - Advanced Creative Writing with Forums Workshop. For undergraduate English majors, this course satisfies the Genre (B-2) requirement.
