CSAC 155 - Making Thinking Public:A Workshop in Writing, Effective Practice, and e-Portfolio Development This course is a .5 unit cyber-enabled seminar to support CSAC majors to become nimble and effective writers of multi-modal texts - to serve the variety of audiences and purposes they will as they become “makers” knowledge and agents of change in a rapidly-changing, digital world. The course will be a “studio space” for students to take stock of themselves as writers, to explore strengths and weaknesses, and to develop new strategies and modes of reflection and revision, as they deepen their capacities of effective practice as writers and grow in their appreciation of their “writerly” identity. The course will support students to explore strategies and practices that support their writing in general, but focus specifically on genres that are particular to academic scholarship and effective practice relating cultural studies and communication. Throughout the course, students will be guided to use a digital portfolio platform - to reflect on their development as writers over time (collecting and reflecting on past writing) and use the portfolio as a mechanism to showcase their best work and communicate to a broader public beyond Clark. May be repeatable for credit.
