MSC 3225 - The Information Society

This course introduces the birth of the information society, or internet age, though a historical framework and seeks to avoid historical amnesia in addressing contemporary topics in digital communications. Issues of selfhood, its evolution, and the role of technology in this progression are examined. The guiding motivations that inform how and why we build the digital world are also analyzed. Innovations such as the Internet of Things (IoT), augmented reality (AR), and blockchain are introduced.
