Accelerated Degree Program Policies and Procedures

APPLICATION POLICIES

1.  Students must complete and submit the application to the Accelerated B.A./Master’s Degree Program through the online portal by May 1 of their junior year, or Nov. 1 if they are out of sequence*. An application fee is not required.

2.  Students may not switch to another program after the appropriate ADP application deadline.

3.  Students who are dismissed, suspended or expelled from the University lose their eligibility for the program.

COURSEWORK POLICIES

4.  Sophomore/junior and senior year GPAs are calculated on the basis of courses taken at Clark or at a Clark study abroad program during the fall and spring semesters only. Transfer, summer and May term courses are not included.

5.  Clark study abroad programs count as regular Clark courses.

6.  Students are required to complete a minimum of 15 units with letter grades in their sophomore and junior years.

7.  Students who complete their degree requirements in December rather than in May can defer their eligibility one semester if, and only if, the program agrees that the required courses are not available in the spring semester presumably because the course offering would be off-sequence.

8.  The senior year is defined as the last two semesters of full-time study at Clark prior to receipt of a bachelor’s degree.

9. Only graduate-level coursework taken during the senior year and beyond can be counted toward the master’s degree.

10. Students are fully admitted into their graduate program and are eligible for ADP remission only after earning their bachelor’s degree.

11. Students who are declared eligible for the ADP must take two units of graduate-level courses during the senior year. The exceptions are the MBA program, which requires four units in the senior year, and the MSF program, which requires three units in the senior year, MAT (Elementary only) which requires three units in the senior year, and MS in GIS which requires four units in the senior year. The Accelerated ES&P and CDP programs are able to take a maximum of two graduate courses in the senior year.

TUITION REMISSION POLICIES ^

12. Students must begin graduate course work during the senior year. Tuition remission applies to a maximum of 10 units taken within the 12 months after completion of your undergraduate. All non-required courses will be charged at normal tuition rates. Additional courses taken during the graduate year will be charged at full tuition rates.

13. Students who take longer than one year will pay regular tuition rates for any additional courses taken after the 12-month period. Students are allowed two semesters of non-residency status after the fifth year presumable to complete research and the masters thesis. Please note: there is a $200 fee (per semester) associated with the non-residency status registration.

14. Students must complete eight semesters of full-time study at Clark within five years of initial entry to be eligible for full tuition remission. The additional year is to enable students to take one or two semesters’ leave of absence for any reason except required withdrawal or suspension (for academic or nonacademic reasons). These need not be consecutive semesters. Transfer students do not have the same option of taking a leave of absence.

15. Students who complete their bachelor’s degrees in seven full-time semesters at Clark for whatever reason receive 75% tuition remission for the year graduate study.

16. Transfer students and any students who complete their undergraduate degrees in six semesters or fewer are eligible for 50% tuition remission. Transfer students or students with advanced standing credit who complete 8 full-time semesters at Clark are eligible for full tuition remission.

17. Interactive Media, BA/MFA does not offer Tuition Remission/Scholarship.

*For students out of sequence it is helpful to think of applying at the end of the third semester before their graduation.
