ENG 181 - Major American Writers II

Type of Course: Lecture, Discussion
This course traces the evolution of American literature and its major aesthetic movements from circa 1860 to the present. Writers and poets include Melville, Twain, Crane, Wharton, James, Williams, Eliot, Hughes, Cather, Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Faulkner, Pynchon, and Morrison. For undergraduate English majors and minors, this course partially satisfies the Historical Sequences (A) requirement.

Prerequisites: Verbal-expression course.
