Type of Course: Seminar
Centers on current language policy issues. Each semester focuses on several selected policy issues such as bilingual education, policies that dictate “English Only” in the workplace and other situations, speech codes, language translation in the legal process, and efforts to make English the official language of the United States. Language policy issues in the U.S. are compared to those in other parts of the world, especially the European Union countries.
