HIST 077 - Introduction to Latin-American Civilization

Type of Course: Lecture, Discussion
Seeks to introduce the diversity and complexity of the many Latin-American nations and peoples, as well as to emphasize the historic, current and future importance of Latin America to the world. Special emphasis on ancient American civilizations, 16th-century European contact and conquests, society then and now (human rights, poverty, slavery, the many faces of race and identity), political instability, power of the military and foreign intervention.
