HIST 241 - History of International Human Rights

Type of Course: Lecture, Discussion
This course will introduce the student to one of the most fundamental issues in the evolution of societies: human rights. Examines the various conceptions of personal rights since the ancient times. Issues related to the promotion and protection of human rights as premised on the fundamental principles of basic human dignity and individual rights are explored. Examines also the emergence of domestic human rights and the relationship between just society and political legitimacy.
