OM 4601 - Operations Management


Operations management involves the efficient use of resources to create goods or services that satisfy the needs of customers and clients. In both the profit and nonprofit sectors, successful management requires economically rational decisions regarding the design and operation of processes that transform such resources into goods or services. The course develops students’ abilities to identify and structure operating problems and to identify appropriate techniques for resolving them. Examples of topics covered include: modeling concepts and LP modeling/solution methods, basic forecasting methods, location selection, inventory management, MRP, JIT, quality management/assurance, project management and control.

Prerequisites: STAT 4006 , MIS 4500 .
