PSYC 241 - Philosophy of Psychology

Type of Course: Lecture, Discussion
A philosophical treatment of the possibility that the mind is a machine that can be studied scientifically. We examine questions concerning (1) the relationship between the mind and the brain, (2) the twin ideas that the human mind is a computer and that an artificial machine could think, (3) the nature of mental representation, and (4) various proposals for how the mind is structured, including connectionism.
