EN 203 - Water: The Socio-Ecological Perspective

What are the challenges facing water managers throughout the world and what are the social, cultural, and environmental values at stake? This trans-disciplinary course will explore the human relationship to water and consider the impacts of decisions systemically across society, environment, politics, science, and culture. Special attention will be paid to integrated water management and citizen engagement approaches that strive to uphold and embody the building blocks of human development: equity, sustainability, production, and empowerment. Class activities, readings, and case studies will build students’ practical skills for effectively engaging real-world water dilemmas.
