WGS 220 - Queer Theorists of Color

In this student-led seminar we will examine queer theory written by individuals of color through the lens of five main topics: identity construction, activism and application, intersectional identities, class and power, and nationalism.  The use of these five categorizes will guide our in-depth readings and class discussion, as the field of queer theorists of color is extremely vast.  The course will not attempt to cover all aspects of queer theory; rather it will provide a comprehensive overview of the subject with the goal of increasing students’ gender literacy from an intersectional perspective. Juniors and Seniors only, or by permission of the instructor.

Anticipated Terms Offered: Spring 2016
