ENG 253 - Advanced Studies in Shakespeare

Intended to build on English 120 and/or 140, this course will engage you in an examination of ten Shakespearean texts. While recent iterations of the course have focused on “the pedagogy of sexual violence,” the theme will vary from year to year but always engage you in a disciplined process of thinking through Shakespeare in terms of the critical theoretical trends that have shaped Shakespeare Studies and, more generally, Literary Studies over the past several decades. For undergraduate English majors this course satisfies the Period (C-1) requirement.

Prerequisites: ENG 120  or TA 214 .
