MUSC 275 - Conducting


Students build and exercise the multifaceted skillset required to lead the musical rehearsal process and guide musical performances. Students develop a foundational vocabulary of gesture to lead musical ensembles, and use analytical listening to discern, address, and correct issues in intonation and articulation. The course blends historical research, theoretical analysis, and critical listening exercises to help students comprehend and create informed interpretations of musical literature for performance.  In addition to pre/co requistes student are required to enroll in a Music Ensemble while taking this class.

May be repeated once for credit.

Prerequisites: MUSC 100, MUSC 121 and MUSC 122. MUSC 122 can be taken simultaneously with this class.

Corequisites: must be enrolled in a music performance ensemble: MUSC 170, 171, 172, 174, or 175.
