PSYC 218 - Research on Race, Ideology and Power


This course involves students in ongoing research on the intersections of race, ideology and power. Research projects include studies on whiteness and antiracist education, neoliberal ideology and youth development policy and practice, and participatory action research (PAR) as pedagogy. This course is grounded in interdisciplinary literature and theories including social and community psychology, sociology, and education. Students will be exposed to primarily qualitative methods such as thematic and discourse analysis.

Prerequisites require a minimum grade of C-

This course fulfills the Lab/Research requirement of the Psychology major.

Prerequisites: PSYC 101  , PSYC 108  , PSYC 109  , and Instructor’s Permission
