MSCS 3100 - Securing the Blockchain


This course will focus on the technology and security risks of blockchain; a revolutionary, emerging technology. The course will cover the foundations of blockchain technology as well as the main building blocks of the blockchain’s ecosystem but more importantly, will provide the necessary tools and build the mindset of how to securely implement business Blockchain solutions and ensure all checks and balances are in place. Other basic concepts will be discussed at a high level such; as Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), Blockchain solutions architecture and design, Decentralized Application (dAPP), digital assets, cryptocurrencies, tokenization and token economics, Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), Decentralized Finance (DeFi), and ultimately Web 3.0.

This course is designed to help IT/security professionals who already work, or would like to work, in the blockchain space including technology risk, information security, cybersecurity, system architecture and design, network security architecture, system/application development, and system administration.

Prerequisites: MSCS Students only, others by Academic Advisor permission and override.
