SPAN 134 - Latino Literature and Media Arts

Explores the variety of expressions of Latino identity as a hybrid formation within U.S. culture. Unlike traditional Spanish-language literature, which is historically formed and rooted within a Hispanic national community, Latino culture generally functions between and around different cultures. It is a culture of migration, assimilation, resistance to the melting pot, as well as a unique expression of a new ethnicity in formation. Features Puerto Rican, Cuban-American, Mexican-American, Dominican-American and other cultural products. Conducted in Spanish.
