PECO 201 - Environmental Ethics


This course will examine and assess many ethical theories concerning the Environment and nature. Then, we will compare and contrast them as we apply these theories to various environmental and ethical issues. After a brief introduction to philosophy and ethics, we will examine major ethical theories and perspectives concerning the Environment, such as animal rights, naturalism, biocentrism, holism, deep ecology, environmental justice, ecofeminism, sustainability, economics, capitalism, and the Environment, food security, climate change, population and consumption, and pollution.
