BCMB 228 - Molecular Genetics

In this seminar-style course we explore classic and recent discoveries in the molecular genetics of prokaryotes and eukaryotes. We will investigate topics that focus on the molecular mechanisms that control transcription and the associated biological impacts of gene expression, including the basic principles of transcriptional regulation in the well-studied systems of E. coli bacteria, bacteriophage lambda virus and Drosophila melanogaster embryonic development.

Prerequisites:  BIOL 118  or permission of instructor.
