ECON 329 - Economic Development in Historical and Modern Perspective

This course provides an overview of cutting-edge answers to the field’s fundamental questions:  Why are incomes high in (parts of) some countries and low in others?  And what can we do to raise incomes in the developing world?  We will study some of the most highly cited determinants of economic development in both historical and modern perspective, and propose our own experimental and quasi-experimental research that contributes to this literature.

Prerequisites: ECON 302
