SOC 208 - Class, Status and Power


This course is intended to introduce students to how sociologists examine the systematic forces shaping inequality. It focuses primarily on one type of stratification - social class. It will focus on the social, economic, and political power of the upper class, economic restructuring, social mobility, and cultural capital. In addition to social class, we will examine the intersections of other forms of inequality - race and gender - as each relates to labor market stratification.
