SPAN 145 - Latin-American Short Story


The short story continues to be the most popular literary genre in Latin America. This course will look at the writings of story-tellers who have revolutionized the story-telling art in Latin America (Quiroga, Borges, Cortázar, Carpentier, Rulfo) and at the shorter fictions that have come out of the revolutionary struggles in Argentina, Mexico, Cuba and Chile. Recommended for majors.

Prerequisites: SPAN 131 , SPAN 132  or permission. Native speakers welcome.
