SSJ 31118 - Non Profit Resource Development

This course has two core components: exploring the nonprofit resource development landscape and conducting grant research and developing proposals in partnership with an actual nonprofit organizational partner. The course will explore all the various way nonprofits develop resources to support their organization’s mission and programs; from raising funds, securing contracts, and developing fundable grant proposals. Throughout the course, students will partner with a nonprofit organization to ensure their learning is grounded in real world experience. Students will learn from local nonprofit leaders, funders and development directors as guest lecturers and they will engage in a step-by-step process to gain fundamental resource analysis, grant research and proposal development skills. The final project will include an analysis of the organizations current resource base, recommendations for expanding their resources and a draft proposal to support the organization’s future work.

Formerly IDCE 31118. Students who have already passed IDCE 31118 cannot receive credit for SSJ 31118 and should not take this course.
