TA 1000 - Dance in World Cultures

Dance in World Cultures offers an introductory overview to some of the major dance traditions of the world. Students will examine examples of dance from both western and non-western cultures and explore their social, political, historical, and religious context. This course will involve a theoretical approach to learning about various world dance perspectives. Participants will be challenged to engage and critique notions of what it means to be human; notions of authority and belonging; and to question and reflect on their own identity and relationship to dance.
