MFAV 3201 - Graduate Independent Studio Project III Working one-on-one with their faculty advisor, the student develops their studio practice over the semester, building on feedback and critique of their work at previous residencies. The student will also work with an artist-mentor.
While the faculty member remains in regular contact with the student, the artist mentor is intended to be an advocate and coach for the student during these periods of extended independent work.
Over the course of a given semester, the student can expect to meet with the artist mentor monthly. The artist mentor is also asked to provide mid-course and final reviews and evaluation of the student. These reviews are used by the faculty advisor to provide a deeper academic evaluation of the student’s work for that term. The student is expected to bring the art produced over the course of each semester to residency for evaluation and critique by others.
