TA 135 - Practice and Theory of Ballet


 The Practice and Theory of Ballet is a course for students of all levels who are interested in practicing the fundamentals of ballet and gaining an understanding of its physicality and artistry. The course will examine the historical origins of ballet and its absorption of cultural influences as well as emphasize an awareness of alignment, anatomy for dancers, conditioning and musicality. Theoretical components will include learning and memorizing ballet vocabulary and readings on ballet history. Technique class is focused on efficient alignment, developing and improving traditional ballet line, fluency in the classical vocabulary, increased understanding of the coordination, rhythm, and phrasing aspects of ballet technique.
