CES 303 - Climate Change Mitigation Planning and Implementation

The biggest challenge to addressing climate change is to mobilize and activate scalable solutions for achieving carbon neutrality across all sectors of society.  The goal of this course is to learn about, and apply, a quantitative approach to sizing up the technical potential of a range of clean energy and low carbon technologies and practices that can support the necessary transition to a zero-carbon society.  Students explore energy and material solutions applicable for electricity supply, heating and cooling, transportation, building materials, and more. Students will investigate climate change mitigation plans, policies and actions being pursued in Massachusetts, in New England, in the U.S., and around the world, and then apply their discoveries to develop climate mitigation plans of their own and to explore strategies for their effective implementation in real-world settings.
