ACCT 211 - Intermediate Accounting

This course is the first of two courses that cover intermediate financial accounting and reporting.  This first half of this course mostly covers specific assets accounts in detail.  The second half of this course covers liability and owners’ equity accounts, and includes selected topics such as EPS, income tax accounting, and leases.

The course encourages students to participate actively in class discussions and to improve their communication and inter-personal skills.  We will also discuss articles found in business newspapers and magazines, professional and academic literature, and our own professional experiences.

The course aims to expand students’ understanding of accounting theory, and improve their abilities to evaluate the impact of alternative accounting principles on financial statements.

Prerequisites: ACCT 101
