ACCT 214 - Accounting Information Systems


This course provides a detailed examination of the structure and function of accounting information systems (AIS) within business processes. Students will explore how these systems capture, process, and maintain data essential for accurate decision-making. The curriculum covers topics such as system development, data management, and the use of technology in internal controls. Through theoretical discussions, practical case studies, and hands-on exercises, students will develop skills to analyze and design information systems that enhance organizational effectiveness and efficiency. This course is designed for students who aim to understand and manage the critical components of accounting information systems, preparing them for advanced studies and professional careers in accounting and finance.

In order to demonstrate your knowledge of the underlying accounting issues, you will be required to develop an understanding of several technologies and accounting applications. In particular, you will be required to use the course website, Microsoft Access, and UiPath.

Prerequisites: ACCT 101
