ACCT 206 - Federal Taxation


This course offers a comprehensive exploration of the U.S. federal taxation system, focusing on the principles, policies, and practices that govern the taxation of individuals and businesses. Students will delve into the intricacies of tax law, including income determination, deductions, credits, and the taxation of property transactions. The curriculum is designed to provide a solid foundation in the structure of the tax code, statutory interpretation, and practical application of tax principles through problem-solving and case studies. Emphasis is placed on understanding the role of taxation in economic decisions and the effects of tax law on individual and corporate financial planning. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the knowledge to prepare tax returns and to consider the tax implications of various business and personal financial decisions, preparing them for careers in accounting, finance, and law.
