ARTS 100 - Foundations in 2D Design


This studio-based course introduces students to the principles of 2D design through exploration of image-making tools and processes. Students investigate visual perception, figure-ground relationships, two-dimensional pattern and form, and the theory and dynamics of color. Emphasis is placed on developing observational and conceptual skills, creating projects that apply art & design principles, and engaging in critiques using appropriate visual vocabulary. Portfolio reviews are NOT required for Visual Arts courses. Open to nonmajors.
