OM 250 - Principles of Operations Management


This course covers various qualitative and quantitative concepts and approaches used for managing a firm’s operations and evaluating business decisions, problems, and investment opportunities. Students will learn tools and methods under topics such as productivity, capacity planning, work design, product design, process management, inventory management, quality management, project management, supply chain management, scheduling, forecasting, and optimization. There will also be substantial real-world applications to gain a deeper understanding of contemporary production and managerial decision-making processes using new technologies such as AI.This course covers various approaches used to manage a firm’s operations and evaluate business decisions, problems, and investment opportunities. Both qualitative and quantitative concepts will be discussed. Topics include productivity, capacity planning, work design, product design, process management, inventory management, quality management, project management, supply chain and logistics management, scheduling, forecasting, optimization, and other contemporary analytic techniques. Using conceptual and numerical application, students will gain a deeper understanding of production and managerial decision-making processes.

 

Formerly offered as QBUS 250. May not be repeated for credit by students who took QBUS 250.
