MSPM 3680 - Program and Portfolio Management

Managing a portfolio of projects adds significant complexity to the role of the project manager. In this course, students will develop project management oversight skills to manage interrelated projects at the program and portfolio levels, while gaining a clear understanding of the distinctions between program/portfolio management structures and project organization challenges. Covering topics such as strategic alignment, resource optimization, leadership and stakeholder engagement, each module in this course aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge to effectively manage multiple projects.

Through lecture, discussion, case studies, and practical exercises, students examine strategies used to prioritize and manage a portfolio of complex and often geographically distributed projects. Emphasis is placed on the role and function of Project Management Information Systems (PMIS).
