PSYC 208 - Practicing Psychology with Community Organizations I In this course, students will practice psychology in a 2-semester academic year internship with a community partner, discussing these experiences and sharing skills with their peers in a weekly seminar setting designed to support their internship experience. The main goal of this mid-level course is to provide students with the opportunity to apply and further develop psychological knowledge and skills in a community organization, allowing students to begin developing and exploring their own professional identity in preparation for future careers. This internship in applied psychology, and the community we will build in seminar, provide an opportunity to a) learn about work life from firsthand experience, b) interpret workplace events and client service through a psychological perspective, and c) employ psychological knowledge and skills toward solving practical problems and meeting the needs of the internship site. As a 2-semester internship, students will have the time and support to develop an independent project within the community organization.
