Overview

Graduate Program

Clark’s School of Management master’s in business analytics program will equip you with the skills needed for the growing field of data analysis. You’ll learn techniques to formulate insights and the capability to communicate your knowledge effectively to data scientists, managers and executives. Essentially, you’ll learn how to synthesize data into powerful information that you and other managers can use to inform decision making.

11 units are required to complete the program, including a 1 unit internship or Experiential Learning Course.

Graduate Program Requirements

Students must satisfy the Master of Science in Business Analytics pre-requisite courses prior to beginning their first semester at Clark University. Students must satisfy 1 Math or Statistics course and 1 Python or SQL Server Programming course. Please read below for pre-requisite guidelines:

Math and Statistics (Probability and its Applications)

The prerequisite is automatically satisfied if the student took one (1) Statistics or Math course through an accredited college or university. The course must have been for credit and the student must have earned a letter grade. Courses taken through an open online courses platform (MOOC) will not satisfy the statistics pre-requisites.

Python or SQL Server Programming

The common topics that the programming courses must cover is the syntax, algorithm, and programming skills of a popular programming language, such as Python, Java, C++, C, SQL, Visual Basic, Perl, PHP, or MATLAB.

The prerequisite is automatically satisfied if the student took one (1) course at an accredited college or university. Students can also satisfy this prerequisite if they successfully complete the following Online Certificate programs from DataCamp:

Minimum Grade Requirements

Students must receive a B or higher from the courses taken at an accredited college or university in order to satisfy the pre-requisites. Students who take the Online Certificate through Datacamp or Coursera must demonstrate the course completion and certificate received from the platform.

EAS and Pathway

EAS students: EAS students who did not already satisfy the pre-requisites may complete them while taking their English language courses at Clark University. However, Statistics and Programming will not be part of the EAS curriculum. Students will need to complete the Statistics requirement online at Clark University or online through another accredited university, and they must also complete the programming pre-requisite through Datacamp.

Pathway students: The MSBA program is currently not part of the Graduate Pathway program.

Required Courses

10 core courses are required for the MSBA program. Students must also complete a 1 unit Experiential Learning Requirement (ELR) course or a 1 unit internship for credit along with the 10 core courses for a total of 11 course units.

Accounting Analytics Concentration

Students may choose to add on an Accounting Analytics concentration to their MSBA program of study if they would like to specialize in this area. If a student chooses this concentration, they must complete 12 units for their degree.

Students that choose this concentration must complete ACCT 4101 Foundations of Financial Accounting in the first semester of their MSBA program. They then choose two out of three courses from the following elective options. These courses are taken in place of MKT5401 and MKT5495.
