Graduate Program
The Clark University Master’s in Accounting Analytics program prepares students for an ever-changing professional environment in both public and corporate accounting. This STEM-designated program, based on fundamental accounting knowledge, provides students with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience with data analytics technologies and methodologies to keep pace with today’s data-centric accounting world.
Graduate Program Requirements
The Master of Science in Accounting Analytics requires 11-12 course units.
Students without previous accounting and analytics coursework are required to take two units of foundation coursework in their first semester: ACCT4101: Foundations of Financial Accounting and STAT4450: Managerial Statistics. Only ACCT4101: Foundations of Financial Accounting may be waived based on prior coursework or a waiver exam. Students who can waive ACCT4101 can complete the program in 11 units.
The MSAA program includes two foundation courses that provide students with fundamental knowledge of accounting and business analytics, four accounting and three data analytics core courses to enhance students’ understanding of contemporary accounting issues and, develop strong analytics skills. Three accounting analytics core courses are also required to integrate the accounting knowledge and analytical skills to identify accounting problems, to analyze big data, and provide innovative and practical solutions.
An internship is required for this program.
If a student intends on taking the CPA exams and does not have enough credits in accounting as required by NASBA, we recommend taking the following additional courses:
- ACCT 5206 Federal Taxation
- ACCT 5109 Government and Nonprofit Accounting
- MGMT 4708 and 4713 Business Law I and II
- FIN 4200 Financial Management
Foundation Courses (2 Units)
Foundation courses provide students with fundamental knowledge of accounting and business analytics. Students may satisfy the ACCT4101: Foundations of Financial Accounting course requirement through prior undergraduate or graduate coursework, or by passing a waiver exam.
- Waiver of the financial accounting requirement is based on successful completion (B- or better within 6 years) of an undergraduate or graduate financial accounting course for credit or a passing grade on the accounting waiver exam. If not waived, students will take ACCT 4101 Foundations of Financial Accounting to meet the foundation requirement.
- There is NO waiver for the STAT4450 - Managerial Statistics Course
