Master of Fine Arts in Interactive Media Overview


The Master of Fine Arts in Interactive Media program offers an innovative studio-based curriculum that is flexible and customizable, allowing students the opportunity to work full-time while continuing to master tools, theory, and practice associated with their own vision to design and develop publishable titles and lead their own studio team.

Our program requires 15 units and prepares students for careers in the highly competitive and ever-changing fields of game development and interactive media or a career path in higher education, teaching, and research.

IMED 3300 - Interactive Media Entrepreneurship  

 

Design Studio (5 units)

IMED 3200 - Procedural Art  

IMED 3210 - Digital Storytelling  

IMED 3220 - Game Prototyping  

IMED 3230 - UX/UI Design  

IMED 3240 - Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR)  

 

Praxis (1 unit)

IMED 3999 - Interactive Media Praxis  

* MFA students may apply for nonresident status if they need more time to complete their Praxis.

 

Elective (3 units) 

  • Any SPS and Becker School of Design & Technology graduate course for which they qualify 

 

Learning Outcomes


  • Develop an original interactive work that reveals the student’s personal aesthetic and incorporates user research, innovation, design, and implementation.  
  • Apply the entrepreneurial process to promote applicable industry and sound business practices in interactive media.
  • Construct their vision to lead and create interactive media experiences responsibly for change. 
  • Collaborate in team projects, contribute individually, and communicate effectively within their organization with character and integrity.
