Overview

The Masters of Science in Management degree provides students with management knowledge that can be applied as an emerging leader in any career, in any sector-private, public, or non-profit.

Students will augment educational or work experience with a solid foundation of graduate management education and a broad understanding of management’s applications. Regardless of their undergraduate background, students will learn how to work with diverse stakeholders in key areas of an organization:

  • Accounting
  • Marketing
  • Information technology
  • Human resources

Most importantly, the MSM will help develop the leadership and decision-making skills students need to effect community and organizational change.

Departmental Eligibility Requirements

The accelerated Bachelor of Arts/Master of Science in Management program is open to students in all majors.

For students that enroll at Clark in Fall 2019 or later:

Two program prerequisites are required. Prospective MSM students must complete ECON010 AND QBUS110 or ECON160 or PSYC105 (or comparable statistics course) with a grade of B+ or higher by the end of the second semester of their junior year. MGMT100 is also recommended.

A minimum cumulative sophomore/junior year GPA of a 3.6 will be required for eligibility in the BA/MSM program. A senior year cumulative GPA of a 3.6, including both undergraduate and graduate courses, will be required to remain eligible for the 5th year.

Students admitted into this program are eligible for a full 100% tuition remission in the 5th year. Tuition remission eligibility will be communicated to students with their admission decision.

For ALL SOM Accelerated Degree Applicants

As part of the application process, all applicants to the accelerated degree program must meet with both the SOM Assistant Dean, Laura Burgess, and the Associate Director of the SOM Stevenish Career Management Center, Kelly Kochis, before the accelerated degree adviser form will be signed and approved by the School of Management. These meetings need to take place before the accelerated degree application deadline.

Program of Study

The MSM requires 10 units of graduate coursework. Students will be required to take 2 graduate course units in their senior year, and can choose to take a third graduate course. Students must choose two courses from the following graduate course options during senior year, or can take all three:

ACCT 4101

MGMT 4053

STAT 4300

Students will then complete the remaining 7-8 units of graduate coursework in their 5th year of study. For more information on the MSM program requirements, please visit the Management, MSM  program requirements page.

The accelerated BA/MSM program requires a graduate level internship for all full time on campus accelerated degree students. This internship must be completed as part of the MSM program and by the time a student completes the degree requirements. Internships completed at the undergraduate level do not meet this requirement. No academic credit is awarded for the internship.

Fees

Students will pay a one-time program fee of $1,000 in the first semester of graduate study.  Students also pay a $40 activity fee in the fall and spring semesters of their graduate studies, as well as a one-time enrollment fee of $100.

Students are responsible for paying for housing, food, books, health insurance, and other personal items.
