Master of Science in Project Management Overview

Demand is high for project management practitioners with the necessary mix of competencies - a combination of technical and leadership skills plus strategic and business management capabilities. Leveraging the deep resources of Clark’s knowledge center, our STEM designated Master of Science in Project Management is distinguished in the academic marketplace by its emphasis on lean practices and the management of IT projects, giving you the skills to increase your ability to implement strategic initiatives, drive change, and deliver innovation.

Our emphasis on technical knowledge and leadership skills will provide you with the well-rounded expertise that today’s employers demand. You’ll gain a deeper understanding across the project management lifecycle while mastering the key strategies needed to assess risk, manage quality, minimize costs, control scope, and incorporate research insights into the planning and management process.

Master of Science in Project Management Requirements

The Master of Science in Project Management requires 10 courses: seven (7) core required courses and three (3) elective courses.

Learning Outcomes

The Master of Science in Project Management gives our students the experience needed to work with the increasing level of complexity associated with IT projects like cloud deployments, globalization, and IT integration across business functions. These skills form necessary foundations for solving practical problems that arise in business, industrial, governmental, and other organizations. We are confident that our degree and its concentrations will provide graduates with the skills necessary to work as professionals and take on leadership roles in their organizations. This program offers students the opportunity to develop operational competencies in five foundations:

1. Organizational Systems - to understand the organizational role played by modern Project Management principles  MSIT 3840 - IT Project Management Fundamentals  
2. Ethics and Social Responsibility - to develop the skills necessary to find the right path forward for troubled projects MSPM 3790 - Managing Troubled Projects  
3. Workplace Dynamics, Communication, and Career Management - to develop an understanding of concepts, analytical tools and communication skills underlying behavior in organizations MPA 3120 - Organizational Behavior & Leadership  
4. Applied Research - to analyze information for effective and efficient decision-making MSPM 3800 - Experiential Learning  

5. Theoretical Grounding - the understanding of building blocks of a progressive framework, which enables the benefits of an agile development methodology at the enterprise level MSIT 3750 - Lean Practices and Organizational Change
