Mathematics Education Major Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics Education, developed in partnership with the Education Department, is designed to provide a focused pathway of study for students who are planning for a teaching career in middle or secondary education. Students will engage in courses designed to build their content knowledge in mathematics as well as introduce them to current topics in teacher education. The major culminates with a capstone internship project that will include field work in a middle or high school classroom. Although this program will not lead to licensure in and of itself, it will allow undergraduates the opportunity to receive early guidance on the path to a Master of Arts in Teaching, an accelerated degree program offered through the Education Department.
