Accounting Overview
As an accounting major at Clark University, you’ll gain expertise in financial reporting, auditing, taxation, and management accounting, preparing you for careers in business, government, or further professional certifications such as the CPA, CMA, or Enrolled Agent (EA). You’ll develop the analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills essential for financial decision-making. The undergraduate accounting major equips students with essential technical skills, ethical decision-making abilities, and knowledge of industry standards, while fostering critical thinking and problem-solving in real-world business contexts. Studying accounting at Clark opens up a structured pathway into a high-demand field, providing students with skills that directly align with career opportunities in public accounting, corporate finance, government, and nonprofits. The accounting major requires 15 units of courses, including, including 7 business core courses, 1 capstone course, 6 accounting required courses, and one elective course. ECON 010 is also a required program pre/corequisite. A minimum 2.0 overall grade point average in major courses is required. Students must take all major courses for a letter grade, except ACCT298. Students interested in combining the accounting major with another program of study in the School of Bussiness can minor in that subject (Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management, and Marketing). A dual major between two majors in the School of Business is not an option. Honors
There is no honors option for the accounting major for the 2025-2026 academic year. Students in the major are eligible for membership in both Beta Alpha Psi and Beta Gamma Sigma if they meet specific academic criteria. Program Faculty
