GEOG 090 - Native Americans, Land and Natural Resources

GEOG090 offers a critical overview of Indigenous resource struggles, identities, and stewardship practices as theorized, discussed, and practiced in the geography discipline. To understand contemporary Indigenous issues, GEOG090 considers how articulations of sovereignty, place, and territory link to longstanding geogaphical debates around ‘capitalism’ and ‘science’ and ‘nature’; grounding its observations in three contemporary Indigenous land/resource struggles. In addition to readings, the course will feature guest speakers, Indigenous art + film, and will undertake a fieldtrip that aims to educate Clark students about the Indigenous lands upon which we are all fortunate to study.

May be repeated for credit once (taken twice).
