SOC 160 - Global Cultures and Identities

This course explores 21st century global economies by focusing on the national, and international forces that we are all located amidst. What is the elastic and plastic nature of cultures in liquid times of uncertainty?  We will interrogate the complexity of social, political, and economic changes, which continuously shape and reshape cultures in new global domains. What are the limits of globalization, in times of war and terror? How are attention merchants who control social media and giant technology companies impacting our lifestyles and cultural habits?
