IDND 015 - CLARK COMMONS: SPECIAL TOPICS Spring 2024 Topic: IMPLEMENTING AN HONORS EXPERIENCE AT CLARK - Through readings and guest lectures, this course will explore the ways in which knowledge is produced across different fields of inquiry, including the social and natural sciences and the humanities. It will continue (and fine-tune) work begun during the previous semester, when a group of sophomores assisted faculty in helping create an honors experience for future students that would reflect the University’s mission and values.
Fall 2023 Topic: CO-CREATING AN HONORS EXPERIENCE AT CLARK - What could an honors experience at Clark look like? How could students and professors help co-create an honors experience that is attentive to racial and socio-economic privilege? Would that attentiveness render an honors program that reflects the diverse values of Clark’s communities? Students in this course will help shape the future of our University as they grapple with these questions, while considering the unique role an honors program in higher education could play in addressing inequality, enhancing peoples’ lives, promoting innovation and reflection, and creating better global citizens.
