MSC 3223 - Ethics in the Digital World


This course connects marketing and communications techniques with their ethical implications. In this course, we will explore key concepts through current trends and examples, and better understand our own principles and values through dialogue and the examination of multiple perspectives. This course flexes our ethical muscles and provides the body of knowledge needed to act in an ethical manner within the evolving landscape of our digital world. Topics covered include journalism & media, the “Copy Left” v. copyright, and participatory v. voluntary surveillance. Ethical frameworks used in this exploration include Utilitarianism, Deontology, and Virtue Ethics.
