MSCS 3100 - Blockchain Technology Risk Management


This course will focus on the technology and security risks of blockchain, a revolutionary, emerging technology. The course will cover the foundations of blockchain technology as well as the main building blocks of the blockchain’s ecosystem, but more importantly, will provide the necessary tools and build the mindset of how to adopt a risk-based approach for implementing business Blockchain solutions while ensuring all checks and balances are in place. Other basic concepts will be discussed at a high level, such as Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), Blockchain solutions architecture and design, Decentralized Application (dApp), digital assets, cryptocurrencies, tokenization & token economics, Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), Decentralized Finance (DeFi), and ultimately Web 3.0.

This course is designed to help IT/security professionals who already work or would like to work in the blockchain space, including technology risk, information security, cybersecurity, system architecture & design, network security architecture, system/application development, and system administration.

Prerequisites: MSIT 3110 - Cyber Security Fundamentals  or by Academic Advisor permission
