PSCI 263 - The U.N. and Peacekeeping

This course will explore United Nations issues, procedures, programs, and activities, with a special focus on peacekeeping. Seminar sessions will examine the concepts of preventive diplomacy, peacemaking, peace enforcement, post-conflict peace building, and the “duty to protect” in the context of various conflict and post-conflict situations. The handling of different post-conflict situations will be compared and contrasted. Students will do in-depth research on one or more specific U.N. peace operations.
