Management Overview

Undergraduate Program
Clark’s tradition of challenging convention and changing the world is evident in our undergraduate management programs, and nurtures innovative and socially responsible entrepreneurs and industry leaders. Studying management at Clark exposes you to all functional areas of business, while teaching you the critical thinking and communication skills that are essential in a liberal arts environment and vital to the success of today’s managers. The undergraduate management and graduate business programs are accredited by the AACSB-International -The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Major Requirements

The required curriculum for management majors consists of 12 course units, plus a program co/prerequisite course of ECON010. Students must take all courses for the management major for a letter grade (except for the MGMT298 internship course). A minimum of 2.0 cumulative grade-point average in major courses is required for graduation.

Students interested in combining the Management major with another program of study in the School of Business can minor in that subject (Entrepreneurship, Finance and Marketing). A dual major between two majors in the School of Business is not an option.

Required Core Courses

Management Electives

The Management major also requires two units of elective courses at the 200 level or higher. Students can choose 2 units for electives from the list below. A maximum of 1 of those 2 units of electives can be a FIN or MKT course, or an approved elective offered from the Becker School of Design and Technology.

The MGMT298 elective course can only count for one of the major electives. The 2nd elective must be a class from the elective options.

Data Analytics Track

Management majors interested in learning more about the field of data analytics can pursue the data analytics track within the major (students complete the track, not the separate concentration).

The track requires additional coursework. Students completing the track must complete 15 units of coursework in total: the ECON010 prerequisite; the 7 units of business core curriculum; the 2 units of management core curriculum; the capstone; and 4 units of data analytics coursework.

Honors

Management majors with outstanding academic records (a cumulative GPA of at least 3.7) may apply to pursue departmental honors. To receive departmental honors, a student must successfully complete an applied honors research project. Prospective candidates for honors are invited to apply to complete honors research in the spring of their junior year, and only selected students will be given permission to take the honors course, MGMT 297  , during their senior year. The honors course is a 1 unit/one-semester course and is taken in addition to all other major requirements.  Students completing departmental honors must present to the department faculty and present a poster at Clark Fest as part of their requirements.
