Management, BA/MSM

Overview


The Masters of Science in Management degree provides students with management knowledge that can be applied as an emerging leader in any career, in any sector-private, public, or non-profit.

Students will augment educational or work experience with a solid foundation of graduate management education and a broad understanding of management’s applications. Regardless of their undergraduate background, students will learn how to work with diverse stakeholders in key areas of an organization:

  • Accounting
  • Marketing
  • Information technology
  • Human resources

Most importantly, the MSM will help develop the leadership and decision-making skills students need to effect community and organizational change.

Departmental Eligibility Requirements


The accelerated Bachelor of Arts/Master of Science in Management program is open to students in all majors.

Two prerequisite courses are required. Students must complete:

Economics - ECON 010  

Statistics - QBUS 110  OR ECON 160  OR PSYC 105 

Prerequisites must be completed with a grade of C or higher by the end of the second semester of their junior year. 

MGMT 100  is not required, but recommended

A minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.4 is required for eligibility to this program.

For ALL SOM Accelerated Degree Applicants

As part of the application process, all applicants to the accelerated degree program must meet with both the SOM Assistant Dean, Laura Burgess, and the Associate Director of the SOM Stevenish Career Management Center, Kelly Kochis, before the accelerated degree adviser form will be signed and approved by the School of Management. These meetings need to take place before the accelerated degree application deadline.

Program of Study


The MSM requires 10 units of graduate coursework. Students are required to take 2 graduate course units in their senior year. Students must choose two courses from the following graduate course options during senior year:

ACCT 4101  

MGMT 4053  

STAT 4300  

Students will then complete the remaining 8 units of graduate coursework in their graduate year of study. For more information on the MSM program requirements, please visit the Management, MSM  program requirements page.

The full time accelerated BA/MSM program requires a graduate level internship for all accelerated degree students. This internship must be completed as part of the MSM program and by the time a student completes the degree requirements. Internships completed at the undergraduate level do not meet this requirement. No academic credit is awarded for the internship.

Fees


This program is eligible for a 100% tuition remission in a student’s graduate year if the student meets all accelerated degree requirements. All accelerated degree students will be responsible for fees during their graduate year of study.
