Business Analytics, BA/MSBA

Overview


Clark’s School of Management master’s in business analytics program will equip you with the skills needed for the growing field of data analysis. You’ll learn techniques to formulate insights and the capability to communicate your knowledge effectively to data scientists, managers and executives. Essentially, you’ll learn how to synthesize data into powerful information that you and other managers can use to inform decision making.

 

Departmental Eligibility Requirements


The accelerated Bachelor of Arts/Master of Science in Business Analytics program is open to students in all majors.

One prerequisite course is required. Students must complete a math course from the following options with a grade of B or higher by the end of the second semester of their junior year:

MATH217

MATH119

MATH120 

The prerequisite grade requirement applies to all junior applicants in Fall 2023 and beyond.

A minimum cumulative sophomore/junior year GPA of a 3.6 will be required for eligibility in the BA/MSBA program. A senior year cumulative GPA of a 3.6, including both undergraduate and graduate courses, will be required to remain eligible for the 5th year.

Students admitted into this program are eligible for up to 50% tuition remission in the 5th year. Tuition remission eligibility will be communicated to students with their admission decision.

Students must also take 1 Python or SQL Server Programming course before they begin their senior year. Please read below for prerequisite guidelines:

Programming Prerequisite

The common topics that the programming courses must cover is the syntax, algorithm, and programming skills of a popular programming language, such as Python, Java, C++, C, SQL, Visual Basic, Perl, PHP, or MATLAB.

The prerequisite is automatically satisfied if the student took one (1) programming course at an accredited college or university. Students can also satisfy this programming prerequisite if they successfully complete the following online certificate program from LinkedInLearning:

For ALL SOM Accelerated Degree Applicants

As part of the application process, all applicants to the accelerated degree program must meet with both the SOM Assistant Dean, Laura Burgess, and the Associate Director of the SOM Stevenish Career Management Center, Kelly Kochis, before the accelerated degree adviser form will be signed and approved by the School of Management. These meetings need to take place before the accelerated degree application deadline.

Program of Study


The MSBA requires 11 units of graduate coursework.  Students will be required to take 3 graduate course units in their senior year. Students must complete STAT 4450  ,BAN 4500 , and BAN 4550  during their senior year.

The remaining units of graduate coursework will be completed in the 5th year of study. For more information on the MSBA program requirements, please visit the Business Analytics, MSBA .

Fees


This program is only eligible for up to a 50% tuition remission rate for a student’s fifth year of study.  There is a one-time program fee in the first semester of graduate study.  The student continues to be responsible for paying other enrollment and activity fees as well as their housing, books and personal items.  Tuition and fees are set annually by the Board of Trustees.
